Freedom School
The CDF Freedom Schools® program provides summer school enrichment that helps children fall in love with reading, increases their self-esteem, and generates more positive attitudes toward learning. Children are taught using a model curriculum that supports children and families around five essential components: high-quality academic enrichment; parent and family involvement; civic engagement and social action; intergenerational leadership development; and nutrition, health, and mental health.
In its inaugural year 2011, LightWave Education CDF Freedom Schools® program proudly served 50 children aged 6 to 13 in the City of Bakersfield at The Center for Spiritual Living. With a 10:1 student to teacher ratio, our scholars would experience a program ensuring that they are equipped with the necessary skills to succeed in life. Nationally, 70,000 children have matriculated through the program, with nearly all of the children’s parents testifying to an improvement in their child’s scholastic achievement the following school year.
Evolution of Consciousness
Evolution of Consciousness focuses on transformative education delivering classes for beginners, as well as more advanced students. Students study philosophy, world religion, art, classic literature and modern metaphor from movies and great books. Students travel to sacred sites and retreat centers for periods of silence and quiet reflection. Discussions are lively as the students take an active role in the self-discovery process. Leadership and instruction on living a successful life round out the course work. Counseling sessions are scheduled as needed and are encouraged.
Classes are offered to the public and the fees are established by the Class Facilitator. Location and times will be published on the LightWave Education website.
